workshops in berlin
I believe that all the information you need to make a beautiful lifelike drawing, a great looking piece of hand lettering or a fun illustration is right in front of you. The key is a special way of intense, focused seeing. Once you learn how to make that mental shift, your confidence will skyrocket and you’ll be amazed at what you can make. You’ll start to see beauty in everyday things and finally discover the joy of creating – minus the judgement.
I’ve developed and taught a number of workshops around lettering, illustration, drawing and design. Find out more about them below!

Brush lettering is perfect for creating your own greeting cards, place cards, prints, addressed envelopes and inspiring Instagram posts. It’s also a wonderfully relaxing way to spend time.
This 3-hour class will give you a solid introduction to all that goes into brush lettering. You’ll be able to try out lots of different materials, get plenty of individual instruction and ask me any questions you have. So step away from those devices and keyboards, slow down, and reclaim the art of writing by hand!
drawing letters: introduction to hand lettering
This small-group, beginner workshop will give you a comprehensive introduction to the art of drawing letters! We’ll explore how to communicate an emotion or thought in a visually pleasing way. What makes a piece of lettering look good? How are multiple fonts and other elements best combined? What are some ways to draw nice looking letter shapes? By the end of this workshop, you’ll have designed your own hand-lettered piece of art to hang on your wall or send to a loved one.
During this 4-hour session I’ll offer plenty of individual assistance while you work on your designs. You’ll gain both a theoretical understanding of lettering as well as many practical tips and tricks. Afterwards, you’ll have access to my downloadable lettering resources, to keep practicing your new skills at home.
to draw = to see
The idea that artists have a mysterious talent that enables them to magically do things that normal people can’t do, is a myth. Drawing is mostly a skill you can learn like any other.
Learning to draw is really learning to see. Professional artists make the mental shift from everyday looking, to intense, focused seeing. In this workshop you will learn how to make this shift yourself. Suddenly drawing from life will become much simpler. Experiencing that you can draw something that actually looks real, will give you the confidence to start exploring your own creativity further. You’ll be amazed at what you can do!
As well as discussing composition, proportion, negative space and contour, we will also talk about what to do when you don’t know what to draw, or when you feel frustrated with your drawing.
illustration from observation
In this illustration workshop, we use our observation of the world around us as a starting point for creativity. After a few sketching exercises, focusing on different aspects of the objects we see, we start to transform those sketches into illustrations through a process of simplifying, multiplying and composing. We explore line, colour and shape while playing with quick and easy materials like markers, pencils and scraps of paper.
Use your newly acquired skills to add decorative illustrations to handmade cards, create wall art, spice up your journaling and much more!
mindfulness through drawing
Meditation and breathing techniques aren’t the only ways to slow down and stay in the moment. Drawing is an active yet perfect way to practice mindfulness, because it forces you to focus on your senses. It is impossible to feel rushed or worried, when you are in the midst of truly seeing and drawing!
When did you last take the time to observe your surroundings in detail? To really see the shape of that tree, or the rhythm in the lines of that building? In this workshop, you’ll practice specific techniques to start experiencing an intense, focused way of seeing that will help get you in a state of flow. Once you learn how to make this mental shift, you can get mindful whenever and wherever you like! Standing in line at the supermarket, at the playground with your kids, or at home during dinner. You will be able to instantly slow down and be truly in the moment.
your next creative idea
What are the optimal conditions for sparking ideas? How can I express myself artistically while still creating products that will actually sell?
As creative professionals, original and exciting ideas are at the heart of what we do. We need to consistently come up with fresh perspectives, concepts and visuals because without them, there’s no business! But, if you’ve ever stared at a blank screen or paper, you’ll know that thinking of a great idea out of the blue can be daunting. This 2-hour workshop will hand you the tools to make the process of idea generation feel less elusive. After some intense thinking, writing and sketching, you’ll go home with actionable strategies for dreaming up your next product line or creative project! Adding structure to your creative process can create a lot of confidence.
